"It's 8 o'clock on a Monday night..."

For two years now, I've sat in the left-most seat in the WQAQ studios. When 8 o'clock rolls around on Monday night, I flip on the four microphones, and I say that exact phrase. Everything after that line, however, is completely up for grabs. From that point on, it's up to myself, Conor Byrne, Matt McAuliffe and Nick Beaudoin to decide what happens.

I can't honestly say that I ever expected our show to get to this point. We've been fortunate enough to win back-to-back Show of the Year awards from our radio station, 98.1 WQAQ-FM. Now, we're launching a brand new blog with over 20 contributors, and a podcast network that spans multiple shows and multiple sports.

But how did we get here?

Honestly, this whole thing started with an idea. That, and two neighbors that were willing to take the plunge with me. I also happened to have class with the kid from orientation who got hypnotized into thinking his belt was a snake. I knew that was a guy I just had to reach out to. The snake kid also happened to be friends with a walking hockey encyclopedia. As someone who dabbled in hockey every now and then, he was a must-have, too.

Our first guest was Jack Quinlivan. He plays for the University of Maine hockey team. We don't have it recorded, but it was fun. Then, we got Pete Blackburn. THE Pete Blackburn, I thought. Six months later, I'd become Pete's producer for his podcast, Brunch. And now I can text him whenever I want. He wished me happy birthday this year. So that's cool.

We got some pretty amazing guests in Year One. Tom Caron from NESN, Pete of course, and oh yeah, THE COMMISSIONER OF THE BOSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT. Yeah, not a big deal.

Year Two, our biggest growth came internally. We added a fellow sophomore who had as big of a passion for social media as we did for radio. She was a must-have, too.

The point I'm trying to make here, and should get around to telling you, is that we've never stopped growing. I have to thank Matt McAuliffe personally at this point. He's always been the one to tell me never to get cocky, and to always keep trying to grow what we have.

That's the attitude every one of our contributors is taking into this blog. We're starting at ground level, and building our way to the top, just like we've done on the radio show.

I have to admit, this site is pretty cool. We'll have content coming out every damn day. Blogs every single day, podcast episodes every single day, all of it can be found here. We have bios for each of our contributors, and links so you can follow them on social media. That way, you can always get your favorite writers' blogs first.

There's something for everyone on this blog. Yes, sports are our main concern. But our contributors are versatile, wise beyond their years, and collectively, have their finger on the pulse of what our audience wants to read.

We want your feedback. Your encouragement, your criticism. We want your phone calls every Monday night, your tweets everyday on our Twitter account, your comments on our blogs. We want to know what you want to see.

Well, that's it for me. Thanks again for all of your support. Don't worry, we won't make anything harder than it needs to be.

That's what she said.
